Santa Maria – Digital Nomad Guide

Santa Maria strings along Sal's southern shore, where kitesurfers launch from the famous Ponta Preta breaks and beach bars pour grogue cocktails on sand terraces shaded by reed canopies. The town center clusters around the pastel Igreja Nossa Senhora das Dores, while inland the salt flats stretch toward the strange crater pool of Pedra de Lume. Trade winds blow constant and strong from November through May, turning the bay into a sky of kite arcs and making this the unofficial European kite school capital. The island stays bone-dry year-round, prices reflect package-tourist demand around the resort strip, and life beyond it pulses to Cape Verdean morna music in fisherman shacks. Wind, water, and Creole evenings, basically, and very little else competing for attention.
